WEIQIAO Germany GmbH represented the Weiqiao Group at the COP 26 UN Climate Conference in Glasgow

During her presentation at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 26, Dr. Rong He, Deputy General Manager of WEIQIAO Germany GmbH, introduced China’s dual carbon goals and Weiqiao’s solutions to achieve the common goal of carbon neutrality. She set the main focus on the transformation of the business model and manufacturing operations, through the use of green energy sources and through increasing the production share of secondary aluminum. She emphasized that in the future, Weiqiao will continue its commitment to the journey toward achieving net-zero emissions and based on the current achievements, will be able to create a greener aluminum industry.

The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is a two-week conference that has taken place annually in late fall since 1995. At this formal negotiating session, countries advance their climate commitments as well as their climate actions and it has also become an important forum for a wide variety of stakeholders from around the world to gather and discuss the climate crisis and solutions. The 26th Climate Change Conference, hosted by the UK in partnership with Italy, took place from October 31 to November 12, 2021, on the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow. There, nations adopted the Glasgow Climate Pact, aiming to turn the 2020s into a decade of climate action and support, so that the rise in global average temperature can be limited to 1.5 degrees. The package of decisions includes strengthened efforts to build resilience to climate change, to curb greenhouse gas emissions and to provide the necessary finance for both.
